Thanksgiving is when? Then lets have a giveaway!

My concept of time is off. This past Friday, when I was taking my kids to school, I ran into a friend of mine, whom was also dropping off her kids, and she said, "I can't wait for the break! I'm having such a hard time getting my kids out the door." I nodded my head as though I knew what she was talking about, when in fact, I had no clue. I then ran into another friend and noticed she was carrying a crock-pot full of corn. When I asked her what it was for, she looked at me strangely and said, "It's for the class party." "Really?" I responded, "What party?" "Thanksgiving!" she said.

Then it all made sense! The other mom saying she could hardly wait for the break. The stressed out look on some of the other parent's faces (knowing that they were going to be home for a week with their kids). And all of the food that the moms were taking to class... except for me. Our school district gives the entire week off for Thanksgiving and I had completely forgotten about it. For some reason, I just felt like it was still the beginning of November and not the week before Thanksgiving. Crazy! I hope I get a calendar this Christmas ;)

So Thanksgiving is this Wednesday and... just joking, I know it's Thursday. Yes, this Thursday is Thanksgiving and I just so happen to have some pretty cute tights to wear...

They're called Pinwheel tights from Anthro.

Any big plans for the day after Thanksgiving? I've never done that 3am shopping mania stuff. However, this year my sister, mom, and I will go to Jo-Ann's around 6am to buy stuff for crafting. Then, we plan on crafting all day long afterward. I'm really looking forward to that. Hopefully, I'll have some fun crafts and tutes to share with you after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Being as I won't have time to blog this week (kids home and all), lets have a giveaway! To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me what your day after Thanksgiving plans are or what you are thankful for. Two winners will randomly be selected on Monday November 30th. The Winners will each win 1 yard of the fabric of their choice from Phatfabric.com. The giveaway will close November 29th, 2009. International friends are welcome to enter.

So, to all of my American friends, thank you and be sure to have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! And to all of my International friends, I am thankful for you too! =)

Cheers,

Jamie

One quick note: The Japanese fabric sale will come to close this Saturday.

The giveaway is now closed. I will announce the winners Monday morning. Thank you!

Giveaway winners!

And the winners are (via random.org)...
Renee G - Rosie Dot Blue (Sept 21st @12:07 pm)
Wendy - Birdsong (Sept 21st @ 5:08pm)
Crystal - Centerpiece (Sept 24th @ 8:10 pm)
Winners, please email your shipping address to apronstreet{at}yahoo.com
Thank you all for entering the giveaway and for your funny, honest, and insightful comments regarding colorful tights. Here's my compromise...

Not too bright. Yes, it is a bit too young, but you only live once. When I'm lying on my death bed at a ripe old age I don't want to be thinking to myself, "I wonder if I ever could have pulled off wearing colored tights?" So here's to no regrets. However, the thought just occurred to me that possibly later in life, my kids may pull up this post and show me this picture with a what where you thinking look on their faces. Yes, then I do believe I may have regret.
Oh well =)

Cheers,

Jamie

A fabric giveaway hooray!

9/25/09 - Hello everyone! The giveaway is now closed. I will announce the winners on Monday. See you then =)

How about a Phat Fabric giveaway? It's been much too long since my last giveaway, so to make up for lost time there will be 3 winners randomly selected for this giveaway.

The details...
This giveaway is for 1 yard of any fabric at Phatfabric.com. International friends are welcome to enter.
3 winners will be randomly selected via a random number generator.

How to enter...
Leave a comment with the fabric of your choice AND (there's always an and) answer the following question: What do you think about the the trend of brightly colored tights worn with skirts and dresses? I'm 50/50. I like them on other people, but on me they add about 5 pounds and make me look like one of the munchkins from The Wizard of Oz. I find myself resisting the urge to sing The Lollipop Guild Song when I wear them. I should stay away from horizontal stripes shouldn't I?

Anywhoo... the giveaway will close on Friday the 25th of September 2009. I will announce the winners on the following Monday.

3, 2, 1, let the giveaway begin!

Jamie

The giveaway is now closed. The winners will be announced on Monday. Happy weekend to all!

The second life of a dress

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

You. Me. 10,000 monkeys. Daaancing.

No, but close. Look at the trim.

That there trim has the potential of becoming a really cute scarf. The dress is a hand-me-down from my sister and it doesn't fit me quite right. I'm not sure if I will add bobbles or cut it as wide as the previous scarf I made. Nevertheless, I do know its next life is going to be a scarf.

On another note, if you happen to be in the Fabric Shopper area, be sure to check out the Honey Girl Dress/Top pattern giveaway. The giveaway includes a Honey Girl pattern along with 3 yards of fabric from my shop Phat Fabric. I love giveaways! Don't you?

Good luck!

Paula Prass fabric and 2 Giveaways!

I'm very excited to have added textile designer Paula Prass to the Phat Fabric family. Her Summer Soiree collection is pure summer bliss. Bright happy colors mixed with summer floral motifs. Such happiness!

I'm also excited to share with you 2 giveaways! Over at The Crafty Crow you will find a giveaway for 3 Pretty Ditty Apron patterns (link). And The Fabric Shopper is having a giveaway for a Pretty Ditty Apron Pattern plus 3 yards of Michael Miller fabric or Alexander Henry fabric from Phat Fabric (link). So be sure to head on over to these blogs and enter to win. I'm already a huge fan of both blogs as The Fabric Shopper keeps me updated with the latest in fabric news and The Crafty Crow keeps me from being a boring mom =)

Speaking of The Fabric Shopper, Melanie made a Pretty Ditty Apron and posted a review about the pattern (link). As you can imagine I was so relieved and excited to read that she found the pattern easy to follow. It's good to know that all those hours spent learning illustrator and nit picking over the illustrations paid off ;) ... And speaking of illustration, I am already working on a project that I am not yet allowed to talk about.... I'm bad aren't I? More to come on that. In the mean time, check out the giveaways and happy creating!

Giveaway winners and Happy belated Mother's day.

The winners are......... Angela (blog) & Mariana! Angela wrote, "That's a hard one! At first I thought Robin Egg, but I'm going with Papaya. I'm loving orange more and more." Mariana who wrote "hi! thanks for the giveaway!! I would love that fat quarter pack... it's really handy to have a few solids on hand!!" Winners, please email me your shipping address at apronstreet{at}yahoo.com.
Thank you everyone for making the giveaway so much fun for me. I loved your Coach comments. I was half tempted to blog Thursday night right after Survivor aired. It's crazy how Coach now thinks he was named the dragon slayer by fellow survivors. Rrrrrright. However, I must admit, he does make the show interesting. Without him, I wouldn't have the Dragon Slayer analogy that I use to encourage my kids to clean up their rooms. "Come on. Slay the dragon! You have to cut off it's head." Which translates to "Come on, put your dirty clothes away and pick-up your toys." What do you know, it works! Thanks Coach =)

Happy belated Mother's day to all of the amazing Mama's out there. Being a mom is truly a blessing. Although sometimes it's a blessing in disguise =)
Usually, for Mother's day, my husband will purchase flowers for his mom. However, this year my oldest son decided to make my husband look good by making the above pictured flowers and vase for my husband to give to his mom. Saturday night, he (my son) was very concerned that my husband had not yet purchased a Mother's day gift for his mom (as was I). He also worried that the flowers my husband said he was going to buy wouldn't last long. So, my son came up with an idea to make flowers for Nana, but allow his Dad to take the credit =) He gathered a bunch of twigs, drew and cut out flowers, taped the flowers to the twigs, decoupaged a Pringles container with some scrap fabric, and added scented candle wax to the back of the paper flowers for fragrance when you smell the flowers. His dad did help with the decoupaging and candle wax, but the entire concept was my son's. I took one look at it and....... well..... I got kinda teary eyed over it. Das' my boy!

Congrats again to Angela and Mariana!

Kona Cotton Fabric Giveaway!

The giveaway is now closed. I will announce the winners tomorrow, May 12. A big thank you to everyone who participated.

I think it's time I have another giveaway. Being as I'm on this Kona cotton solid fabric kick, combined with a serious case of smocking-itis, why not give away some Kona cotton?!

Here are the details for the giveaway...

The giveaway is for 8 Fat Quarter cuts of the above Kona Cotton fabrics, or 2 yards of your favorite Kona Cotton fabric (link) from Phat Fabric. Your choice! I will choose 2 winners via the random number generator. The giveaway will close on Monday, May 11, and I will announce the winners on Tuesday, May 12.

How to enter....

Go to Phat Fabric and decide what your favorite Kona Cotton fabric color is (link to colors). Once you've decided, post a comment about your color decision. International fabric friends are welcome to enter. One entry per person.
I believe that covers all the need to knows. I really wanted to ask you something like "who should be voted off of survivor next week?" However, I realize some of you don't watch survivor. But if you did, I'm sure it would probably be Coach, aka the Dragon Slayer. What color is the sky in his world?! Anyhoo, your favorite fabric color is all you need to leave in the comments section of this post. If you'd like, you can leave contact info such as: blog, email, or shop. Just be sure to tune in next Tuesday for the announcement of the winners.

Let the giveaway begin!

Giveaway is now closed.

Freaky Friday Fabric Giveaway

Lets get this Halloween started with a giveaway shall we. Being as Alexander Henry fabrics design some of the best Skull and Day of the Dead fabrics, I thought it would be appropriate on this holiday to give away 1 yard of any Alexander Henry fabric from my fabric shop Phat Fabric. (Did I break the world record for writing the word fabric the most times in a sentence? No. OK.)

Here's how to enter:

Go to Phatfabric.com and pick out 1 yard of the Alexander Henry fabric you would like to win. Then, come on back and leave a comment with the following information.

1) The Alexander Henry fabric of your choice.

2) Tell me what's your favorite, funniest, or least liked Halloween costume. It can be one you've worn or someone else has worn. For example: I went to a "ghetto fabulous" Junior High School. As you can imagine, kids were quite creative with their Halloween costumes. Now, because I didn't go to school on Halloween (read here), I was told of a boy who came to school sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard with duct tape wrapped around him. When asked what he was for Halloween, he responded with "I'm a spatula." I know, sad but really funny.

Don't feel like you have to tell a story. You can always just write something like "I don't like those Scream costumes." I don't either. I really can't stand the ones with blood coming down the face. Anyways, you get the point. Right???? 1) Fabric choice and 2) Halloween costume.

The giveaway will close on November 7th (next Friday) and the winner will be chosen via The Random Number Generator. If you are outside of the US, you are more than welcome to enter the giveaway. However, you will be responsible for shipping charges.

Alrighty, it's time to give me some treats with your comments.

Jamie
The giveaway is now closed. I will post the winner shortly. Thank you for all of your great costume stories.

Giveaway # 3

Ah-yes! It is time for the last Phat Fabric grand opening giveaway. I am loving these giveaways. However, it is time to get back to work and update the Pretty Ditty shop, as well as work on my apron pattern. Plus, I have a couple of sewing projects I'd like to share with you as soon as "normal" posting resumes. So with out further adieu, here is Breeze, the half apron for the Giveaway. Breeze is made up of Sandi Henderson's Ginger Blossom fabric, which I carry in my fabric shop =).

Breeze half apron

How to enter the giveaway

Leave a comment answering 1 or all 3 questions listed below (1 entry per answered question). I know #3 is not really a question.

Here are the 3 ways you can enter to win the half apron.

1. I am a huge fan of the reality TV show Survivor. Every Thursday night, we pop some popcorn, pull out the pull out bed from the couch, and watch Survivor. I've even incorporated Survivor in with my parenting skills. For example, when I need the kids to hurry and clean up their toys, I will set up some sort of obstacle course that includes picking up the toys. I'll then explain to the kids what the course entails and then I'll say "Survivors ready (raising one hand in the air)? GO!" Works every time. With Survivor in mind, the giveaway question is....... If you were on Survivor, what one item would you bring from home? No, there isn't any cell phone service on the island. Silly =)

2. If you don't like Survivor, or don't know what the heck I am talking about, then here's how you can enter. Go to my store Phatfabric.com and tell me which fabric designer you wish I carried or carried more of (fabric).

3. Lastly, if you have purchased an apron from me before, leave a comment telling me how many aprons you have purchased and under what username. You will recieve 1 entry per apron purchase.

The giveaway will close on October 3, 2008. The winner will be selected via The Random Number Generator.

If you are outside of the US, you are more than welcome to enter the contest. However, you will be responsible for the shipping costs.

Remember, you can enter more than once by answering more than one question listed above.

Survivors ready? .......GO!

Jamie
The giveaway is now closed. I will announce the winner today. Thank you everyone =)

September 26, 2008

The winners are....

Congratulations Angie (sketchbook in green), Lani Robertson (apple dot in green), and Giabella Designs (Zesty Zinnia). The Random Number Generator has found favor with all three of you fabric lovers. You are now the proud owners of some funky, fresh, phat fabric. I will get in touch with the winners to arrange for shipping. If you (the winners) did not leave contact info in your comment, please contact me at phatfabric[at]phatfabric.com. As for the rest of my fabric friends, I have something for you. I don't want anyone going away sad, therefore, I have a 10% off any order over $20 coupon for you! Yes, the 10% off coupon can be used for sale items as well. The coupon is valid through September 29, 2008 (ends this Monday) . All you have to do is enter the coupon code prettyditty (one word, no spaces) at check out. Thank you to everyone who participated in this give-away. I love the comments and feedback. I've mentioned to several friends that it's never fun to hear an echo after a post =)

*Updates and Announcements*

Ebay Shop
I've had a few inquiries as to whether or not I will keep my shop on eBay. As of right now, my plans are to stay on eBay, but my focus is on my new online store. For example, the coupon will only apply to my new store, and the Starlings fabric is only available in my new store.

Blog
In previous posts I mentioned the idea of starting a new blog specifically for Phat Fabric.com. I have decided to not create a Phat Fabric blog and instead link this blog to Phatfabric.com. That means sewing projects, new arrivals, and fabric give-aways will be announced and/or hosted here at Prettydittyblog.com.

Photo Gallery
If you have made something with fabric from Phatfabric.com, I would love it if you emailed me a pic of your creation. I plan on creating a Phat Fabric Flickr group in order to showcase your projects.

Lastly, I will have one more Grand opening, apron give-away on Monday! I already know what question I want to ask=) Have a great weekend!
