My skirt and the return of the stripper belt.

Here is the skirt I made using My Folklore fabric.

Folklore skirt

I like the way it turned out. I was going for the three "f's" effect: full, fun, and flirty. I wanted the bottom layer to be made up of red fabric, but I ran out. I then decided to use a beige fabric for the bottom layer and attached a 2" strip of red fabric to the bottom. After I hemmed the top layer, I realized I had hemmed it a little too short because the beige fabric was peeking through. I had only wanted the red fabric to show. Oh-well. To be quite honest, I think I like my little design mistake =)

Yes, that is the belt I refer to as "the stripper belt." If you don't know what I am talking about you will have to read this post to understand. I know what you're thinking...."boy, you're brave to wear that belt again." I figured if I starve myself for 24hrs before I plan on wearing the belt, I should be fine, thus preventing my belt from going airborne.

Belt or no belt?

My husband and I can't come to an agreement on this important question. I have been blessed with a husband that has a pretty good fashion sense and actually enjoys shopping with me. However, he is opinionated. Occasionally we don't see eye to eye on "fashion-y things," and this can result in a disagreement, or some would say... argument. He likes the no belt look (not just for safety reasons). He was the photographer for the photo session, so he made me take pics with no belt. I think I'm right, the belt is best =)

Now off I go to more sewing. I've been a sewing maniac these days. I miss papercutting and painting. Hopefully, next week I will have time for other crafty things. In the mean time, I am finishing up a couple of aprons as well as my revised, revised, revised dress. Here's a peek.

Before I forget, both Amy Karol and Alicia Paulson have recently made some cute skirts. Amy Karol wrote a tutorial on her 5 minute skirt (click here), and Alicia Paulson used a pattern from the book Sew What! Skirts: 16 Simple Styles You Can Make with Fabulous Fabrics. In the book there is a pattern similar to the skirt I made.

Belt. That FABULOUS skirt looks better with the belt.

Jamie! I love the color combinations of that new apron. Blue and yellow = happy!

Yes, definitely the belt. One for me =)

The last pic is of a soon to be dress, but I will use that combo for an apron as well.

Thanks.

I would love for you to make me a custom dress one day.

P.S. The stitching on the dress is really pretty.

That skirt is absolutely adorable!! I love the peek at the bottom as well.
I like it with and without the belt. I think it would depend what shoes your wearing, where you're going. Summer ease would be flip flops and unbelted giving it a more cas and comfy feel. But that's just me!
I can't wait to see what that last photo becomes.

I like the flip flops without the belt. Very comfy and cute. Thanks for the feedback.
