Thanksgiving is when? Then lets have a giveaway!

My concept of time is off. This past Friday, when I was taking my kids to school, I ran into a friend of mine, whom was also dropping off her kids, and she said, "I can't wait for the break! I'm having such a hard time getting my kids out the door." I nodded my head as though I knew what she was talking about, when in fact, I had no clue. I then ran into another friend and noticed she was carrying a crock-pot full of corn. When I asked her what it was for, she looked at me strangely and said, "It's for the class party." "Really?" I responded, "What party?" "Thanksgiving!" she said.

Then it all made sense! The other mom saying she could hardly wait for the break. The stressed out look on some of the other parent's faces (knowing that they were going to be home for a week with their kids). And all of the food that the moms were taking to class... except for me. Our school district gives the entire week off for Thanksgiving and I had completely forgotten about it. For some reason, I just felt like it was still the beginning of November and not the week before Thanksgiving. Crazy! I hope I get a calendar this Christmas ;)

So Thanksgiving is this Wednesday and... just joking, I know it's Thursday. Yes, this Thursday is Thanksgiving and I just so happen to have some pretty cute tights to wear...

They're called Pinwheel tights from Anthro.

Any big plans for the day after Thanksgiving? I've never done that 3am shopping mania stuff. However, this year my sister, mom, and I will go to Jo-Ann's around 6am to buy stuff for crafting. Then, we plan on crafting all day long afterward. I'm really looking forward to that. Hopefully, I'll have some fun crafts and tutes to share with you after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Being as I won't have time to blog this week (kids home and all), lets have a giveaway! To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me what your day after Thanksgiving plans are or what you are thankful for. Two winners will randomly be selected on Monday November 30th. The Winners will each win 1 yard of the fabric of their choice from Phatfabric.com. The giveaway will close November 29th, 2009. International friends are welcome to enter.

So, to all of my American friends, thank you and be sure to have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! And to all of my International friends, I am thankful for you too! =)

Cheers,

Jamie

One quick note: The Japanese fabric sale will come to close this Saturday.

The giveaway is now closed. I will announce the winners Monday morning. Thank you!

This day after Thanksgiving, I will not be near a local shopping center, so I have no other choice but to relax with family...and check the black friday deals on amazon.

I will be studying hard - I have a comprehensive exam covering the last 3 years of my schooling! So no shopping madness for me. After the exam Monday, I'll be quilting away :)

We still don’t even know what we are doing for Thanksgiving… we may stay home or drive out to Utah to see some family. We can’t decide… so my plans for black Friday are up in the air!

Love your tights, too cute :)

I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet. It depends on what stores are in the area where we'll be staying!

I am going to SLEEP as long as possible on Black Friday. Crowds throw me into panic attacks!

I am thankful for winning this giveaway ;), because I am on a husband-induced spending freeze (in his defense, it was needed).

Well I have crazy plans to stay up on Thanksgiving night after the family has gone to bed and sew until about 2AM (the only thing that keeps me awake at that hour) until a friend picks me up so we can hit Old Navy at 4AM, Kohl's at 4AM and Target at 5AM. Crazy, yes? Fun, even more yes!

Have fun crafting, I think I'll take a nap!

I will be visiting my husbands grandparents. Our tradition is that day after Thanksgiving all the girls (over the age of 9) go out to breakfast and to JoAnn's to hit the sales. Its the only store we go to :)

I am thankful to have found something that I am finally good at and love doing.

This is the first year that my husband and I are taking the kids to get a tree the day after Thanksgiving. Usually it's the week before Christmas...he has issue with trees.

Anyway, my son was born on 12.28 so we decided that Christmas goes up on the day after Thanksgiving and down on 12.26, to make room for his birthday.

Hows that for a long explanation!

I celebrated Thanksgiving the holiday last month but I am thankful every day. I am thankful that I was able to spend the last year and a half taking care of my dad, who passed away from esophageal cancer in July. I am thankful that the creative juices I have been blessed with are flowing again. I am grateful for the time to spend using the juices. And I am most thankful to be loved by family, friends and my beloved.

Thank you!

Oh, my. My daughter and I went to Joann's last year the day after Thanksgiving. Wear comfy shoes and take snacks. And coffee. Or water. I'm not kidding. We met some really sweet old men who must really love their wives, because they were cheerful and NOT complaining about the lines like a few of the shoppers. I'd love to go back for some great deals, but I will either be giving birth or snuggled into bed with a newborn (that's my plan for the day.)

I will probably put up my Christmas decorations and might go to a store that afternoon.

I am thankful for my family and my new PT job this year!

I too will make my way into the chaos of shopping with my mother in law and sister in law. I had never done it before until I married my husband. His sister and mom now won't let me not go. I like that they include me in their tradition. I am thankful most through these hard economic times to have a roof over my head, food, friends, and family. Also thankful that the economy has taught me to find my creative self in home decorating:)

I will NOT be going out of the house Friday. I love Christmas but I am not kooky enough to go out in the craziness. I plan on finishing up the final touches of decorating. Then I will settle down in my comfy, red chair and work on some hand stitched felt ornaments for gifts. Oh did I mention I will be off work for a total of five days for Thanksgiving..Crafty crafty time.

I prefer not to leave the house at all on the day after Thanksgiving. I want to clean and relax and decorate for Chanukah.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sadly we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia, but I've always lamented that. I think The idea of having a holiday to be thankful and appreciative should be compulsory all over.

That's why I hold my annual thanksgiving giveaway too :) To show my thanks and spread goodwill.

So to answer you question, the day after thanksgiving here will be a day like any other. But I always take this time of year to meditate on the things I am grateful for. This year it's my amazingly supportive man, that everyone I love is safe and in good health, and every year... every day I am grateful for the use of my hands. Sounds odd, but I think I would shrivel up without being able to do the things they allow me to do.

Thanks for your generosity. May you and your family have a lovely holiday!

so i did the whole Joann's at 6am thing yesterday. The line was crazy long and just like me most everyone in line was there for the Cricut that was on sale for $74. I was super excited that it was on sale since my mom's been talking about it since the beginning of summer. So, yay, i was one of the first people in line and managed to grab one. Five minutes after the store opened they were all gone. So a little nap later and still sleepy i had to drag my tired booty to work for a six hour shift.
