The e-pattern comes with complete instructions, illustrations, shirring instructions, and full size pattern pieces. There is no need to enlarge any pieces. It's all there ready to be made as soon as it's printed from your printer. Super easy!

The e-pattern is available for a limited time. I have 2 more patterns to complete before I make all of the patterns available in paper form. Once the Bibury Capelet is available in paper form, the e-pattern will no longer be available. So until then, you can find the e-pattern in my etsy shop, Phat Fabric, and here.

- Capelet fabric* (Small - 2 yards) (Medium - 2 1/4 yards) (Large 2 1/4 yards)
- Lining fabric* (Small - 2 yards) (Medium - 2 1/4 yards) (Large 2 1/4 yards)
- 1/4 yard of fusible interfacing
- Elastic thread. Dark for dark fabric and light for light fabric.
- 4 sets of hooks and eyes. Preferably size 3.
- 1 sew on snap. Preferably size 4.
- Buttons. The size of the buttons and how many is up to you, because the buttons are purely aesthetic. The hooks & eyes are used for "buttoning up" the capelet.
- Non-permanent fabric marker for marking shirr lines.
- Pins & Scissors.

ReplyDeleteI love your capelet and have been looking forward to the pattern. I have not been able to get elastic thread to work in my machine-it always stays flat. Any suggestions? It's the only concern before jumping into this one. Thanks, Lynn

ReplyDeleteLynn - There could be 2 reasons why your fabric doesn't shirr. 1) the elastic thread was wound with tension. Wind you bobbin again with the elastic thread. Make sure you do it by hand with zero tension in the thread. 2) If you are trying to shirr a heavy weight fabric, you will have to make your shirr rows really close together. The shirring won't show right away when shirring with heavy fabric. Also, check out the comments in the comments section of the How to Shirr blog post (see side bar for link). There are a few pointers there as well.

ReplyDeleteAbout the shirring - I just bought a new Viking and tried to use elastic thread in the bobbin & found out that I need to buy a specialty bobbin case for $45 to do this. I decided to pull out "old faithful" and just do it in my old machine.
It's so good to see you, even through a pix. I just read up on my blog comments, and...yes, the Holiday Boutique a couple years ago was fun. Do you plan on being apart of any this year. Can't believe the year is done.
